ABOUT
Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am the owner of Designer Styles. I graduated from Aveda Institute of Minneapolis in 2014, but my love for hair styling started way before then. My uncle was an Aveda educator and started teaching me hair when I was just a kid. I had my first wedding party when I was just 15 or 16, when one of my family members didn't book a stylist for the bridesmaids. I quickly jumped in and styled the 5 bridesmaids in the basement bathroom. Ever since then I have had a passion for styling. I have been doing special event hair professionally since I graduated Cosmetology school in 2014. I specalize in large wedding parties and make sure the morning runs smooth and stress-free.

Another fun fact about me, I am a combat Veteran and deployed to Afghanistan in 2013. I was an engineer but my military unit referred to me as the company hair stylist!

I offer a military discount if either the bride or groom is a Combat Veteran! Valid DD214 is required to recieve the discount 🤍

Services

Special Event Pricing

-Day of & trial- $360* -Just the day of- $240 -Just a Trial- $180 -Adult Style-$120 -Jr bridesmaids (7-15 years old) - $90 -Flower girl (6 and under)- $60 -Clip in extension install is included in all pricing, but must be provided separately *Bridal package includes a 2 hour customized trial and 2 styles. If there is any additional time remaining, we can try any other styles you have in mind :) You can also expect an hour and 15 min reserved for you on the wedding day to make sure your hair is absolutely perfect! I will also make sure any hair pieces are placed and secure for all day wear. Either show someone how to install or secure and install your veil, and make sure you are set for the night with a touch up kit! Other wedding party members typically take 45 minutes. Please see details section for information on travel fee and assistant fee. I do offer military and return client discounts.

Special Event Details

Any party over 6 people will likely need an additional stylist and any tight timelines will likely need an assistant. I can discuss options with you if an assistant or stylist may be needed. An additional stylist may be needed due to timeline or larger parties, However i can help line up an additional stylist, but it is not a guarantee that my connections will be available! Assistants and second stylist do come with an additional small fee. I do require a $150 date deposit to hold your date, this will be used toward your bill! I do not hold dates without a deposit in place. I also require a 4-adult minimum for prices listed above. If you have a smaller party than 4 adults, please inquire for price as it will depend on location and amount of services requesting. Please note party's smaller than 4 adults will have a different price than what I have listed above.

Travel

Trials are held between February and May of the event year in Anoka, MN for no extra charge. I do rent a space for trials, and will send out dates and time in advance to reserve what works best for your schedule. Outside of this timeframe may be subject to an additional $50 studio rental fee or $1 per mile travel fee for on-site trial styling. I do offer 75 miles round trip for the event date. Any mileage over is $.60 a mile. Events over 1.5 hours may be subject to a hotel stay! I do travel out of state. All expenses for travel would need to be covered by contract holder. This includes flight, transportation, hotel, and meal per diem. Official contract will have all the details

How to Prepare Your Hair

The best way to prepare for your hair appointment is to prep your hair! 1. Wash your hair! Grease weighs down the hair! I can also add grib with product and it's going to take me 2x as long to style someone's hair who is visibly greasy! It's also unsanitary.. Double wash your hair to make sure it's extra clean and make sure you are rinsing really, really well! 2. Blow dry your hair Blow dry your hair off your scalp and in the opposite direction it lays. I know it takes forever and it's awkward. But getting your hair off your scalp helps prevent oil secretion and will also add some natural volume. 3. Natural curly hair Decide how you want to wear your hair! If you want to embrace your natural curl, prep your hair so your curls are nice and bouncy. I only have 45 minutes, so it would be impossible to recurl every section to mimic your natural pattern and put in an upstyle that fast without sacrificing quality. If your not wanting to embrace your natural curl, try to blow your hair as smooth as possible without using a flat iron. You can do this with a round brush or heat brush. Tension on the hair will help get it smooth. This help save time when I go in to redefine your hair for your desired style! If you would rather skip all this I would suggest booking a bridal spot to add double the time ❤️

 Don’t bother looking for another hairstylist because Stephanie is it! I had originally met her while being a part of different bridal party and immediately knew I had to book her for my wedding! Once she was done with all my bridesmaids one of them even asked for her business card for her wedding. Stephanie is a true expert and was able to pull off every hairstyle we asked her to do. I had 12 bridesmaids and she was able to complete each unique hairstyle in under 5 hours. It was a wonderful experience and I’m so happy with how it turned out and lasted through the night.
